Approximately 12 years ago, I wrote a tribute to a man who inspired thousands of young children growing up in Spanish Harlem and throughout New York City. That man’s name was Herbert Chuck Griffin. He was a visionary and taught us that if we could believe, we could achieve. If we persevered, so many of our dreams would have been attainable. August 10, 2024, we were able to commemorate his life accomplishments by having the street on 115th St. and 2nd Ave. named Herbert (Chuck) Griffin Way. There are many people to thank for this accomplishment. Still, special thanks should go out to Deborah Quinones, Raymond Perez (community advocates extraordinaire), and Ed Davila for carrying the ball across the goal line. It was a great day!
